- $38,909 spent. CareCoach, Inc. of Duluth, GA, a company that provides medical services to rural homebound elderly patients, made a wonderful GIK donation to us of 200 brand new and gently used stand-alone blood pressure monitoring units. We worked with Christian Connections for International Health to identify fellow member nonprofits with medical missions that could use these units. The MAMA Project, in Pennsburg, PA was building Well Mother and Baby Kits, and the one component that they were lacking (and about to buy at significant expense), was BP units Using a combination of CareCoach managers and DCF volunteers (including 2 board members), we were able to inspect 115 units, pack them, and ship them to Pennsburg via overnight air, so that the units could be included in the kits, and be loaded onto a cargo ship that had donated cargo space. 85 units went to MAMA Projects clinics in South Sudan. The rest went to their smaller operations in Kenya and India, with the rem being sent separately to Haiti. All of these countries have faced massive natural disasters, and violence, up to and including civil war. In all these places, birth complications are way too common, as are maternal and infant deaths. Children who do survive, sometimes develop physical or cognitive disabilities from a birth trauma. We are so joyful to be able to partner with these great Pennsylvanians in saving lives. We also sent 45 of these units to Mission to Ukraine (MTU). We have had strong working relationship with them since the unprovoked Russian invasion of their country in 2022. They are located in Zhitomir, in Western Ukraine, in between Kyiv and the Polish border. They provide a full range of medical, and physical occupational therapy services to over 600 disabled children. We sent them 45 BP monitoring units, also using expedited shipping so the units could be shipped within a few days via cargo ship. , We also collected and shipped over 100 pairs of winter mittens and gloves to MTU, contributed by wonderful donors from Maryland and Indiana.
- $8,967 spent. We work side-by-side with in-country partners to provide medical services, mobility devices and other life changing resources desperately needed in communities. Compassion Care for Disabled Children (aka Disabled Childrens Fund) is partnering with Mission to Ukraine (MTU), which currently serves over 600 kids with disabilities, who now find themselves sheltering at this very moment. Many of these children and their families cant flee. The staff is determined to stay with the children, no matter what.
- $250 spent. We support our U.S. military families, who have children with special needs, by providing quality of life programs. We strive to reduce the struggle for those who serve our country. Taxpayer dollars take care of the clinical needs of these children. Our focus is on the funding needed to provide creative activities and performing arts in a safe environment for these kids. We also provide quality of life enhancements for family members (caregivers) by giving them respite time while their children are being safely looked after.
