Financial health

We do not score finances when yearly spending is very small or the return has too little detail. The ratios stop meaning much at that size.

Governance

This organization files the short tax form, which does not ask about boards, policies or audits. That is normal for a small charity and is not a mark against it.

  1. $2,090 spent. An annual opportunity is provided for one college scholarship to a local high school senior female. The high school counselors are responsible for sharing the scholarship information and application with all female seniors. The selection committee is made up of Aquia Harbour Women's Club members and at the time of selection names of students are blacked out to lessen bias. The selection committee looks at what community service the candidate has done and any employment. Two references are provided by the student. The student must submit an essay of their lives and what type of college degree they will be pursuing. The scholarship award is given to the student at the end of year high school awards ceremony. The check is made out to the college with the students ID number. The club has no requirements or conditions that are imposed on the student. The scholarship is $2,000, dinner and flowers to recipient $80 and engraved plaque is $10.
  2. $401 spent. The club's annual community Easter Egg Hunt hosts about 100 children each year. Club members donate items for hot dogs, chips and water. Games are also provided.
