As the oldest and largest artist run contemporary art organization in Kansas City, KCAC has a long history of excellence and stability. Since 1975, we have presented over 750 exhibitions, showcasing 6,901 artists from local talents to internationally recognized figures from countries such as Argentina, Canada, Germany, South Africa, and Turkey. This rich legacy underpins our credibility and highlights our commitment to sustaining a vibrant cultural dialogue that both reflects and challenges the communitys artistic sensibilities.
- $63,313 spent. Workshops and lectures provide opportunites for artists to learn professional skills and network with other artists. In November 2019, the KCAC began providing 10 artist studio spaces to tenants at below market cost. This opportunity has provided artists with low cost and safe studio space which they can access 24/7/365. These studios give artists space to grow and create their business as they endeavor to become career artists.
- $5,357 spent. Audience education on the importance of the arts and support for artists is a core part of KCACs mission. We work to elevate contemporary art and demonstrate its essential role in shaping a vibrant and dynamic Kansas City. All of our exhibitions and programs are free and open to the public, ensuring accessibility for all. In addition, we intentionally collaborate with a wide range of artists and community members to ensure that our galleries reflect the diversity of voices and experiences that define our region.
