Governance

This organization files the short tax form, which does not ask about boards, policies or audits. That is normal for a small charity and is not a mark against it.

  1. $54,751 spent. In 2024, TVGS spent funds at the beginning of the year to renovate and update the coworking office for our members. We wanted to ensure that members had a comfortable and great space to work in and build games! One of the bigger initiatives for the year was to be more involved with the various game fests and video game themed conventions that were happening in the Capital Region. To achieve this, we set out to assist with speaker outreach for 1UpState, shared talks and hosted booths at 1UpState, PAX East, Wolfjam, Adirondacon, ROC Game Fest, RPI GameFest, and many more events and raised money for Albany Med Children's Hospital via our Extra Life fundraising event. Lastly, we were able to award funds to two different game projects via the ProtoStar pitch competition, and provided ongoing community input to the developers via Community Night events Education has always been a large focus of TVGS, and this year, we were able to provide services to a local program where we celebrated our first cohort of graduating students from the two-year high school CTE course we developed in partnership with Questar. Additionally we taught free game development lessons for K-12 students at our office (via field trips and family STEAM day), and at external venues like The Arts Center (in collaboration with Creative Action Unlimited) and Mohonasen CAT (in collaboration with Rise High) Lastly, we continued our traditional activities by organizing weekly and monthly virtual gatherings to connect indie game developers from across the Capital Region and beyond. We also added new members to the board of directors who bring additional experience related to grant administration, community outreach, and legal matters that affect the game industry
