What it says it does

The Little Rock Freedom Fund (LRFF) is a black-led movement organization that was founded by veteran black activists in Little Rock amid the 2020 Summer of Resistance. LRFFs mission is to work alongside marginalized communities in Arkansas to devise and implement strategies to achieve racial and social justice. In carrying out this mission, we engage with activists, organizers, protestors, and everyday Arkansans to educate, organize, and mobilize people directly impacted by the most pressing issues of today, such as pretrial detention, unmitigated trauma, and voter disenfranchisement.

Financial health

We do not score finances when yearly spending is very small or the return has too little detail. The ratios stop meaning much at that size.

Governance

This organization files the short tax form, which does not ask about boards, policies or audits. That is normal for a small charity and is not a mark against it.

Impact evidence

Describes programs. Its tax return describes what it does but we have found no measurable results in it.

Programs described in its return (1)
  1. $107,088 spent. The organization advances racial and social justice for marginalized communities impacted by systemic inequities in Arkansas. Through bail assistance and post-release support, the organization secures freedom for those who cannot afford cash bonds while providing vital resources including transportation to and from court, hearing reminders to prevent re-incarceration, mutual aid for basic needs like food and clothing, and coordination with attorneys statewide for legal representation. Beyond direct assistance, LRFF partners with activists, organizers, and community members to dismantle the money bail system and end pretrial detention. These combined efforts embody the organization's dedication to protecting civil liberties, reducing harm caused by cash bonds, and empowering marginalized populations through education, organizing, and direct action. No one should be in jail due to inability to pay.
