Impact evidence

Describes programs. Its tax return describes what it does but we have found no measurable results in it.

Programs described in its return (3)
  1. $119,817 spent. Spay/Neuter Program: Under this program, 699 owned/community animals that would otherwise have added to pet overpopulation were altered at Athenspets' expense. Basic vaccinations and microchips were included with the surgeries; we also covered needed aftercare/rechecks.
  2. $63,218 spent. Shelter Animal Support: Athenspets supported the animals at Athens-Clarke County Animal Services (ACCAS) by paying (1) boarding, training, sponsorship, and transport expenses (including the training expenses for Project Homebound, ACC's Prison Dog Training Program); (2) extraordinary medical expenses; and (3) the cost of shelter supplies, like blankets, medications, and other similar supplies, for the care and comfort of the impounded animals. These services and supplies make the animals more adoptable and decrease their suffering while at the shelter, and make possible transferring shelter animals to rescue groups.
  3. $17,169 spent. Community Support: Athenspets (1) paid for veterinary care for 30 owned animals needed to alleviate suffering and keep them in good, even if impoverished, homes, (2) purchased food for the community pet food pantry as needed, and (3) supplied vaccines as needed for PopUp Vet Care clinics.
