- $132,771 spent. FY25 featured a variety of presentations of What is Essential and Who Am I Know at Krannert Center for the Performing Arts at The University of Illinois, Rutgers University, NYU Tisch School of the Arts, Boston Architectural College, The University of Rochester, and Hofstra University. Heidi Latsky shared her recent journey through the iscovery, surgery, and recovery from a benign brain tumor that had been there for 20 years. What makes her story compelling is that 55 years ago her mother had the same meningioma and she, like her daughter now, was a vital part of her mothers support system. continued on Schedule O Films and live performance were viewed to expose participants to the fierce vulnerability of HLD's dancers as she briefly explains the trajectory of her career in inclusive dance. In telling her story, and where possible the stories of some of her dancers, Heidi aimed to connect with audiences who have lived with disabilities and without. The goal was/is to bring everyone into the conversation to discuss and explore identity, labels, the disability dance landscape, the resilience of the dance and disability communities, and non-apparent disabilities that are often so misunderstood
- As part of our social initiative ON DISPLAY GLOBAL was presented at the United Nations, Tisch School of the Arts, New York University, and the Manhattan JCC in December 2024. In early 2024, Artistic Director and Founder, Heidi Latsky, recently experienced a major life change. She learned that she had been living with a benign brain tumor for nearly twenty years. Much of the tumor has since been removed. The experience has deeply impacted her life and work. Before the diagnosis Heidi felt severe exhaustion and lost olfactory functioning. Since the surgery, the damage has affected executive functioning, mood, taste and smell, and caused falls and a seizure. Continued on Schedule O As a child, Heidi Latsky cared for her mother as she experienced brain tumors and their side effects. Fifty-five years later, Latsky experienced similar neurological issues and discovered that she too had a brain tumor. Her daughter cared for her, as Heidi had once done for her mother. This event has led to the creation of Tracking Parallel/Who Am I Now. A 20-minute compilation of duets, solos and a group section for 9 of Tracking Parallel was presented at Chelsea Factory in January 2025 as part of the Arts Presenters Showcase.
