THIS PROGRAM FUNDS TWO FULL-TIME TIGER TRACKERS WHO MONITOR TIGERS USING CAMERA TRAPPING AND PUGMARK METHODOLOGIES. INDIVIDUAL TIGERS ARE IDENTIFIED, AND THEIR RESIDENCY, REPRODUCTIVE AND SURVIVAL STATUSES ARE DOCUMENTED OVER TIME. IN ADDITION TO FIELD PERSONNEL, THE PROGRAM COVERS FIELD EXPENSES AND EQUIPMENT, INCLUDING CAMERA TRAPS AND RELATED FIELD GEAR.

PARTICIPATORY ANTI-POACHING UNIT(PAPU-BARDIA): THIS PROGRAM IS ONE OF THE MAIN COMMUNITY-BASED ANTI POACHING INITIATIVES IN BARDIA NATIONAL PARK, IMPLEMENTED IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE NATIONAL TRUST FOR NATURE CONSERVATION. IT FOCUSES ON CONTROLLING ILLEGAL WILDLIFE POACHING IN BUFFER ZONES AND CORRIDOR HABITATS BY INVOLVING LOCAL YOUTHS IN ANTI-POACHING OPERATIONS ALONGSIDE NATIONAL PARK MANAGEMENT STAFF AND ARMED PARK SECURITIES FORCES. THE PROJECT HELPS ESTABLISH COMMUNITY-BASED ANTI-POACHING UNITS(CBAPUs) UNDER THE SUPERVISION OF BUFFER ZONE USER COMMITTEES AND NATIONAL PARK MANAGEMENT. THE PROGRAM PROVIDES TRAINING, FIELD GEAR, COMMUNICATION TOOLS, SNACKS DURING PATROLS, AND COVERS MAINTENANCE COSTS FOR BICYCLES AND FUEL FOR MOTORBIKES AND VEHICLES USED IN ANTI-POACHING ACTIVITIES.

IT SUPPORTS CBAPU GROUPS IN THE CHITWAN BUFFER ZONE BY PROVIDING TRAINING, FORMING EFFECTIVE CBAPU GROUPS, ORGANIZING REGULAR ALLIANCE MEETINGS, AND CONDUCTING COLLABORATIVES PATROLS. THE PROGRAM ALSO SUPPLIES FIELD GEAR, INCLUDING BICYLES AND BINOCULARS.
- $2,950 spent. CONSERVATION AWARENESS- CHITWAN: THIS PROGRAM RAISES TIGER CONSERVATION AWARENESS IN LOCAL SCHOOLS AND COMMUNITIES WITHIN THE BUFFER ZONE OF CHITWAN NATIONAL PARK. IT ALSO PROVIDES FIELD EXPERIENCES FOR INTERNATIONAL VISITORS. IN LOCAL SCHOOLS AND COMMUNITIES, TIGER DOCUMENTARIES, RESEARCH FINDINGS, AND CONSERVATION RESULTS ARE PRESENTED. INTERNATIONAL VISITORS ARE ENCOURAGED TO PARTICIPATE IN FIELD PROJECT ACTIVITIES, EXPERIENCE LOCAL COMMUNITY CULTURES, AND GAIN FIRSTHAND EXPERIENCES, THEREBY ENHANCING OVERALL TIGER CONSERVATION EFFORTS.
