Governance

This organization files the short tax form, which does not ask about boards, policies or audits. That is normal for a small charity and is not a mark against it.

Describes programs. Its tax return describes what it does but we have found no measurable results in it.

Programs described in its return (1)
  1. $49,505 spent. October 5th at 4 pm, 2024, Westwood Baptist Church in Cary: Ensemble Absolut. Raleigh Camerata's period Romantic group performed a free concert utilizing our original 1840 fortepiano by Wilhelm Dorr. We continue to make our first concert of the year completely free to all. We performed Conradin Kreutzer's Quintet in A for flute, clarinet, viola, cello, and piano; Friedrich Kalkbrenner's Septet A for oboe, clarinet, bassoon, horn, cello, double bass, and piano; and Louis Farrenc's Sextet in c minor for flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, horn, and piano. Our Holiday concert took place Saturday Dec 14th, 2024 at a private home in Raleigh, NC This concert will feature Advent, Christmas, and New Year cantatas by JS Bach, Graupner, and Telemann sung by soloists Taylor Shay, female bass, and Rudy Giron, countertenor. Wine and hor d'oeuvres will accompany the evening. "The Grand Motet" March 9th, 2025 at Ravenscroft School in Raleigh. Raleigh Camerata partnered with the NC Master Chorale and Master Chorale Youth Choirs to present large choral/orchestral works by Jean-Joseph Mondonville. This performance was also the culmination performance for the winners of our second annual High School Baroque Residency competition. These large choral-orchestral works by Mondonville are not often performed but they are amazing pieces of music. The choral forces required, the challenge of French Latin pronunciation, and the knowledge needed to perform French instrumental music means that not just any ensemble can attempt these works. We will have specialists in this style come in to work with the adult and youth choirs, and specifically to help the youth learn how to sing this music in the correct style and at 415 pitch. This will be the second year for our High School Baroque Residency competition. Students from all over submitted videos for a chance to be in residency with our principal players for 3 months. The instrumental competition winners will be given a baroque instrument and bow in December 2024 and will receive private lessons and masterclasses to help them learn how to play on these instruments and how to play in the Baroque French style. Our closing concert of the season was on May 10th at Western Boulevard Presbyterian Church in Raleigh. "Dueling Divas" featured two sopranos, and explored the artistic legacies of the two legendary singers (Francesca Cuzzoni and Faustina Bordoni) and the heights of inspiration to which their rivalry moved the leading composers of their era. Featuring music by Bononcini, Handel, Leo, Lotti, Pollarolo, Porpora, and Porta, most of which has not been heard since the careers of Bordoni and Cuzzoni, this concert explores the artistic legacies of the two legendary singers and the heights of inspiration to which their much-feted competition moved the important composers of the era. Number of people benefited from our programs: Roughly 700.
