Programs described in its return (4)
- $110,858 spent. Praxis offers a variety of courses open to all community members. These courses specialize in the processes of textile arts such as weaving, fabric surface design and yarn spinning. There are two, six-month sessions during the year where one day workshops run on Saturdays and five week courses run in the evenings (approximately 75 classes).
- $83,144 spent. Our Digital Weaving Lab hosts two TC2 looms. These looms are manufactured in Norway and are the only looms with jacquard capability for the handweaver to use. We host two week residency programs where artists come from all over the world to acccess this equipment. We host 48 artist residents per year.
- $49,886 spent. Praxis offers three tiers of membership for artists who wish to use our workshop as a studio space. The basic membership level at $55/month allows access during open studio hours only when Praxis staff is present. The second tier, working membership for $125/month allows 24/7 access to the facility. Finally, there are five private studios available at $275/month (50 total members). We have added an indigo memebrship at a sliding scale of $50-$250/year for those interested in using the indigo vats at Praxis.
- $33,257 spent. Praxis uses its resources to bring art to the local community for low cost or free workshops and classes. Some of these programs include natural dye gardens in the residential neighborhoods of Collinwood to engage the community about the importance of using plant-based dye for the environment, mobile loom to bring into the neighborhoods, and free classes for residents of our neighborhood (approximately 400 people).
