Programs described in its return (2)
- $230,907 spent. Our music and gaming program empowers youth to create, compete, and connect by blending music production, sound design, and esports into real-world skills. In partnership with Formosa Group (Formosa Music), students explored Intro to Music in Gaming, learning how game scores are created and how to select the right sounds to match gameplay and emotion. Through Introduction to Foley, students discover how to produce sound effects using unconventional tools, bringing scenes and gameplay to life through creative audio design.
- $71,089 spent. We expanded our guns-for-gaming console trade-in initiative in partnership with New Orleans Recreation Development Commission, creating a safe and impactful pathway for community members to exchange firearms for PlayStation and Xbox consoles. This evolution of our program combines violence prevention with youth engagement, turning potential harm into opportunity by connecting participants to positive outlets like gaming, mentorship, and digital skill-building. Through this expansion, we also deepened our investment in the future of our youth- awarding over 20 college scholarships to deserving participants. By pairing immediate incentives with long-term support, we are not only helping remove guns from our communities but also opening doors to higher education and brighter pathways forward.
