THIS DAY AND A HALF SEMINAR FOCUSES ON QUALITY, SAFETY, EDUCATION AND TRAININGS. INSIDE THE 26,000 SQ FT ARENA, WERE NEW ENGLAND'S LARGEST COLLECTION OF ASPHALT PAVING TECHNOLOGIES UNDER ONE ROOF. THE EVENT DRAWS APPROXIMATELY 350 ATTENDEES AND APPROXIMATELY 40 VENDORS. THE SEMINAR STARTED WITH FOLKS FROM RAISED ON BLACKTOP, A COMPANY FROM CONNECTICUT, WHO HYPED UP THE GROUP BY REINFORCING THE IMPORTANCE OF OUR INDUSTRY AND TAKING PRIDE IN WHAT THEY DO. DURING LUNCH, A GUEST SPEAKER ANONYMOUSLY WAITED ON TABLES, SPILLING WATER, GOING TO THE WRONG TABLES AND GETTING INTO PEOPLE'S PERSONAL SPACE. THIS ACT LEAD INTO HIS SPEAKER PRESENTATION TO TALK ABOUT NOT JUDGING SOMEONE ELSE BY THINKING YOU COULD DO HIS/HER JOB BETTER. EACH YEAR MAPA LOOKS TO RECOGNIZE PROFESSIONALS IN OUR INDUSTRY WHO MEET THE HIGHEST STANDARDS OF EXCELLENCE. MAPA RECOGNIZES INDIVIDUALS FOR THEIR OUTSTANDING COMMITMENT TO THE INDUSTRY. MAPA ALSO RECOGNIZES AN INDIVIDUAL WITH THE LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD FOR THEIR YEARS OF DEDICATION AND HARD WORK IN THE INDUSTRY. MAPA ALSO HOLDS AN ANNUAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING THAT IS ATTENDED BY APPROXIMATELY 100 INDUSTRY FOLKS AND OFFERED AN OPPORTUNITY FOR UPDATES OF CURRENT ISSUES. MAPA AWARDS SCHOLARSHIPS; RECIPIENTS ARE SELECTED BY THE BOARD FROM A POOL OF QUALIFYING APPLICANTS.
