Impact evidence

Describes programs. Its tax return describes what it does but we have found no measurable results in it.

Programs described in its return (2)
  1. $13,428 spent. Screen and treat people for retinal diseases in underserved areas around the world, through outreach and volunteer programs. Considering the COVID situation in some of the areas we work in, we continued to avoid specialists from the US and other countries to travel to our locations. Instead, we continued to organize and arrange for eye care specialists from local areas to volunteer their time and provide expertise for free to travel to underserved areas close to where they live. They evaluate patients on sites working with our partner eye clinics. This work is important to create sustainable solutions in these underserved areas. We reimburse their basic travel costs.
  2. $94,590 spent. Screen and treat patients with retinal and other ocular diseases in Orange County, CA. Volunteer ophthalmologists from Southern California volunteer their time and expertise, along with other volunteers such as ophthalmology technicians and scribes, as well as fellows and ophthalmology residents, medical and premedical students and trainee nurses. This program also provides educational opportunities to the students, while also helping conduct research activities such as educating patients with diabetes to help them take better control of their diseases, which will help reduce visual impairment.
