Financial health
We do not score finances when yearly spending is very small or the return has too little detail. The ratios stop meaning much at that size.

Governance
This organization files the short tax form, which does not ask about boards, policies or audits. That is normal for a small charity and is not a mark against it.

Programs described in its return (3)
- $30,483 spent. LASSIs primary annual service to Oceana County residents involves offering emergency and regular medical assistance to all dogs and cats at the Oceana County Animal Shelter that require veterinary attention. Many potential adopters cannot afford crucial medical treatments like heartworm eradication or fractured limb repair. Stray or surrendered animals often require basic care for issues like ear infections minor wounds or tooth extractions. While the Oceana County government offers what it can certain veterinary procedures and medications exceed its budget. LASSI steps in to provide additional care that surpasses the countys financial capacity. In 2025 the Oceana County Animal Shelter took in 590 animals in a county with a population of approximately 27,000 citizens. LASSIs veterinary care program helps all dogs cats and citizens in the county by serving as a safety net for animals that come through the shelter and the people who care so much about them.
- $17,342 spent. The most effective method of addressing pet overpopulation is altering intact cats and dogs spay neuter. LASSI supports Oceana County Animal Controls existing spay neuter assistance program for shelter animals by providing discounts of $25-$50 per animal as soon as the countys spay neuter assistance funds are depleted each year. This ensures that every animal in the shelter needing alteration receives aid.
- $13,746 spent. LASSI provides service to the Oceana County animal shelter by having volunteers walk dogs socialize cats feature adoptable animals on social media etc. In 2025 LASSI was especially honored to combine donor contributions with a grant from the Community Investment Fund and Gail Paulus Family Fund of the Oceana Community Foundation to provide a large fenced exercise area for dogs to be able to exercise safely off-leash.
