TO THIS END, KIWANDA CHA TUMAINI (WHICH IS THE SWAHILI TRANSLATION OF 'THE HOPE FACTORY'), OPERATES A PRIMARY SCHOOL, VERITAS CHRISTIAN ACADEMY, OFFERING A CLASSICAL CHRISTIAN CURRICULUM. OUR SCHOOL ENCOMPASSES A PRESCHOOL BEGINNING WITH THREE-YEAR-OLDS, AND GOES THROUGH GRADE 6. WE HAVE A FARMING OPERATION ON APPROXIMATELY 9 ACRES ON THE RIVER NZOIA NEAR MUMIAS. ADDITIONALLY, WE TRAIN PASTORS AND CHURCH LEADERS AND ARE CURRENTLY SUPPORTING SOME OF OUR FORMER STUDENTS AS THEY ATTEND VALLEY VIEW HIGH SCHOOL IN NAIROBI. WE HAVE A GROUP HOME KNOWN AS 'TEAM GIDEON - RAISING MIGHTY MEN OF VALOR' FOR SEVERAL ABANDONED CHILDREN, PROVIDING A SAFE AND LOVING ENVIRONMENT AS WELL AS NUTRITIOUS MEALS.
- $166,384 spent. VERITAS CHRISTIAN ACADEMY OFFERS A QUALITY CLASSICAL CHRISTIAN EDUCATION FOR PRE-PRIMARY THROUGH CLASS 6. THE REQUIRED KENYAN CURRICULUM IS SUPPLEMENTED WITH EXCELLENT RESOURCES PROVIDED BY THE RAFIKI FOUNDATION. THE TEACHING AND SUPPORT STAFF IS MADE UP OF 15 DEVOTED KENYANS WHO HAVE BEEN PROVIDED WITH CONTINUING EDUCATION AND TRAINING, ENABLING EACH OF THEM TO REACH THE HIGHEST CERTIFICATION LEVEL DESIRED. OUR TRAINED AND HIGHLY-SKILLED KITCHEN STAFF PREPARES AND SERVES TWO NUTRITIOUS MEALS EACH DAY, CONSISTING OF A WELL-BALANCED AND VARIED MENU, INCLUDING FRESH PRODUCE, FRUIT, EGGS, AND HONEY FROM OUR FARM. IN ADDITION TO THE SCHOOL'S ACADEMIC FOCUS, WHICH INCLUDES SWAHILI AND ENGLISH, DAILY BIBLE STUDY FOR TEACHERS, STUDENTS AND STAFF INCLUDES HYMN SINGING AND DEVOTIONALS. WE THANK GOD THAT WE WERE ABLE THIS YEAR TO PURCHASE THE SCHOOL COMPOUND WE HAVE BEEN LEASING FOR THE PAST SEVERAL YEARS.
- $16,766 spent. THE ANIMAL POPULATION HAS EXPLODED AT OUR FARM ON THE RIVER NZOIA! THE BANANAS WE PLANTED IN 2024 ARE FEEDING OUR CHILDREN AND STAFF, ALONG WITH THE SWEET POTATOES, BEANS, WATERMELON, CANTELOUPE, CUCUMBERS, PEANUTS, CARROTS, CABBAGE, PEAS, MANGO, AVOCADO, IRISH POTATOES, AND MANY OTHER LOCAL VEGETABLES. OUR CHICKENS PRODUCE EVEN MORE THAN THE NUMBER OF EGGS WE NEED FOR THE SCHOOL, AND THE CHILDREN HAD THEIR FIRST TASTE OF RABBIT AND GOAT THIS YEAR. WE INSTALLED 15 BEE HIVES AND HAVE ALREADY HARVESTED OUR FIRST BATCH OF HONEY, ENABLING US TO REPLACE SOME OF THE PROCESSED SUGAR IN THE DIETS OF OUR KIWANDA CHA TUMAINI COMMUNITY.
