Governance

This organization files the short tax form, which does not ask about boards, policies or audits. That is normal for a small charity and is not a mark against it.

Impact evidence

Describes programs. Its tax return describes what it does but we have found no measurable results in it.

Programs described in its return (2)
  1. LECDC has established a Parenting Communities Program which provides families in Leelanau County a high quality, comprehensive and accountable system of care and pre-school experience for children birth through age 5. LECDC campaigned for and was successful in getting a county millage in place to fund the parenting communities program and in getting the County Board of Commissioners and County Department of Health to administer the program. LECDC is in the process of establishing home-based businesses to provide childcare for infants and toddlers. On September 16, 2021 LECDC was awarded a $318,000 grant, half of which was received in 2021 to assist in establishing these home-based childcare businesses. Funds remaining will be used along with future donations to provide tuition support to parents with their daycare expenses.
  2. $95,866 spent. On October 1 2023 LECDC received a $400,000 grant from Michigan's Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity to expand our project of creating home-based childcare businesses in the 3 county (Leelanau, Grand Traverse & Benzie) area.
