Programs described in its return (1)
- $163,369 spent. 2024 brought challenges in finding and keeping good staff. We had twelve residents: six had been in the State Correctional Center, three from the MH hospital unit, and three from treatment programs. Of these, six were on probation. They all had a diagnosis of MH, SUD, and trauma Their goal was to remain sober and reconnect with their families. Our strong focus upon their arrival is to develop a Recovery Lifestyle by daily attendance at AA, working with a sponsor, attending to responsiblities in the house, and finding new interest. We provide case management to set appointments for medical, dental care, applying for housing, and meeting with our family coach. The residents at Esther Residence all attend weekly house meetings, yoga, and planned activities. During the first three weeks, the residents each move through phases as they assume more responsiblities on a consistent basis. One even continued HiSet Classes to obtain their GED and further their education. After four-six weeks our residents all found full-time jobs, participated in community service, and taken a finance course. We continued to support former residents who see us as their family through various ways, such as providing food, furniture, household items, resources, and rides. We also provide rides to individuals who want to go to a treatment program nearby. Our grants and volunteers have increased, and we held four fundraising events to reach new donors. With grants, we can provide all neccessary items needed upon the residents arrival, any bus passes, funding for dentures, clothing for a new job, and any funding for courses and group activites. Our board members are active and always seeking ways to help the agency. We were also approached by the organization, My Sisters Keeper to affiliate with them to provide more activities for our residents.
