Programs described in its return (4)
- $472,624 spent. Christian New Creation, Inc contributes to society by equipping and training former offenders in how to reintegrate into society and back within their families. This can be shown by the less than 5 percent recidivism rate for our Residents, versus the State of Texas rate of 21 percent. Our Residents find jobs, housing, attending religious services and learn how to function successfully in society.
- $16,998 spent. Christian New Creation Inc receives a multitude of donations of used clothing and household goods, more than can be used for the facility. To be good stewards of these donations, we created a thrift store to sell the abundant overflow to the community in a separate shop across from the facilities.
- 2024 was a very trying year for Christian New Creation (CNC). Our first half of the year we continued our growth pattern and saw many men complete the program. On July 8th, Hurricane Beryl made landfall just south of Houston and with the rain and winds destroyed much of Houston's electrical power systems. Isaiah Campus was without power for 10.5 days starting on July 8 the first time with power coming back on July 19th. As more of the grid came back online, July 23rd Isaiah Campus, lost power again for 5 days. CNC was able to save most of its donated food through mini generators that were onsite. Internet cable and communications were down for 33 days and did not get restored until August 10th. Both of these issues were caused by the numerous trees and building collapses in the Northeast part of Houston that were the underlying causes for electrical lines to go down. Damage to the main campus of CNC was minimal due to the work that was done in 2023 to the roofing, hurricane brackets in the roofing, and removal of all the trees from the area of the housing compound. These investments were long term goals from the 5 year plan that helped CNC to pull through the storm and its aftermath. The only cleanup needed was debris from neighboring lots that blew into the compound. Hurricane Beryl, in addition to the challenges that Isaiah Campus was under, also caused many of the employers not to restart their operations till the middle of September or later. Repairs to these facilities were hampered by lack of materials including roofing, sheet metal and replacement of power poles and lines in the industrial areas. Even when power was restored, ample power reserves were not available from them to to pull on the grid. During this time , CNC lost over 80 percents of its clients as they were moved to other locations in Texas as Houston was unable to handle on parole the need of the men as power and communications were down for an extended period. CNC board decisions were made to have an onsite backup generation system in place by the next hurricane season (2025) to ensure that power would be available and to keep the men in a safe environment. We had 218 men to through the program, a net change of -111 men during the same period the year before. Our bed count stayed the same and in 2025 we will be positioned to be back at full strength and load volume. Many members of the Christian community and board members helped during the Hurricane Beryl post recovery. This helped us recover from the loss of our clients and be able to recruit new men into the program. At the end of 2024 we were at 80% capacity and 65% of these men were employed. We are looking forward to a great 2025 season.
- Christian New Creation is blessed to have a very active Board of Directors in addition to a strong team of volunteer mentors to help our Residents transition.
