- $1.4 million spent. Violence Free Minnesota (VFMN) is the state's primary resource on responding to and ending relationship abuse. VFMN works to represent victim/survivors of relationship abuse and member programs providing direct services; challenge systems & institutions; promote social change; and support, educate, and connect member programs. VFMN does this through technical assistance to member programs, providing learning and leadership opportunities to increase the capacity of member programs, leading public awareness around domestic violence, and through public policy that is trauma-informed and responsive to the various needs of survivors in MN. VFMN is the only agency in the state that tracks those killed due to domestic violence in Minnesota in our annual Domestic Violence Homicide Report. The Homicide Report tracks and honors those killed due to domestic violence, as well as provides robust recommendations for policy makers, systems players, and community members to prevent domestic violence incidents and homicides. VFMN also curates the Clothesline Project in order to honor and memorialize each victim lost to domestic violence. VFMN also holds a Survivor Fund as part of its economic empowerment program. These funds are a one-time, low-barrier cash grant to domestic and sexual violence survivors for the purposes of increasing and/or maintaining housing stability and addressing survivor's immediate needs in order to access safety and stability.
