- $4.7 million spent. FUNCTIONAL INDUSTRIES HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO ADD A PEER SUPPORT SPECIALIST THROUGH THE COMMUNITY ADULT MENTAL HEALTH INITIATIVE. THIS PROJECT FUNDS PROVIDERS SERVING INDIVIDUALS LIVING WITH A SEVERE AND PERSISTENT MENTAL ILLNESS WHO RESIDE IN BENTON, SHERBURNE, STEARNS AND WRIGHT COUNTIES. THE PEER SUPPORT SPECIALIST IS A TRAINED INDIVIDUALS WITH LIVED EXPERIENCE IN MENTAL HEALTH WHO PROVIDES SUPPORT, GUIDANCE AND ADVOCACY TO OTHERS FACING SIMILAR CHALLENGES. WITH GRANT FUNDS FROM THE COMMUNITY ADULT MENTAL HEALTH INITIATIVE (CAMHI) WE HAVE BEEN ABLE TO HAVE AN ONSITE PEER SUPPORT SPECIALIST SERVE INDIVIDUALS IN NEED.
- THROUGHOUT THE PAST YEAR, FUNCTIONAL INDUSTRIES CONTINUES TO HAVE A LONG WAITLIST OF INDIVIDUALS WHO ARE WANTING DAY SUPPORT SERVICES AND PREVOCATIONAL SERVICES. SINCE JANUARY 2025, THERE HAVE BEEN A TOTAL OF 10 NEW INDIVIDUALS BROUGHT INTO SERVICES OFF OF THE WAITLIST. THIS SHOWS THAT THERE IS A STAFF INCREASE TO SUPPORT THESE INDIVIDUALS AND CONTINUED GROWTH IN THE DREAM ENRICHMENT AND WORK TRAINING PROGRAMS AT FUNCTIONAL INDUSTRIES.
- IN OCTOBER 2025, FUNCTIONAL INDUSTRIES MADE THE DECISION TO INCREASE ALL HOURLY EMPLOYEES WAGES ONE DOLLAR. THIS ALSO PROVIDED AN OPPORTUNITY TO INCREASE STARTING WAGES FOR HOURLY POSITIONS, INCLUDING OUR DIRECT SUPPORT PROFESSIONALS. THE INCREASE DEMONSTRATED POSITIVE SUPPORT TOWARDS INDIVIDUALS CURRENTLY WORKING AT FUNCTIONAL INDUSTRIES IN HOPES OF RETENTION. WITH AN OPPORTUNITY TO INCREASE THE STARTING WAGE, THE GOAL IS TO APPEAL TO MORE PEOPLE IN THE COMMUNITY TO APPLY FOR OPEN POSITIONS, WHICH IN TURN THEN WE CAN BRING BACK MORE INDIVIDUALS OFF THE WAITLIST.
