Financial health

We do not score finances when yearly spending is very small or the return has too little detail. The ratios stop meaning much at that size.

Governance

This organization files the short tax form, which does not ask about boards, policies or audits. That is normal for a small charity and is not a mark against it.

Impact evidence

Programs described in its return (1)
  1. The American Legion, chartered in 1919 has achieved significant service accomplishments by lobbying for veterans' benefits, founding the VA, drafting the original GI Bill, and supporting youth through programs like Boys State and Legion Baseball. Department of Georgia American Legion Post 8 is located in one of the smallest populated and poorest counties in Georgia. We strive to promote social welfare and maintain comradeship by having a Veteran's Breakfast during our monthly meetings, free of charge, for any Veteran. Although our membership is aging, we are still able to assist disabled and needy veterans/survivors when called upon, even if it is a simple as buddy checks. We also continue to foster patriotism in the community by ensuring our National Emblem is proudly displayed throughout for Memorial Day, Independence Day, and Veterans Day.
