What it says it does

The Jewish Tapestry Project's goal is to help communities in the Former Soviet Union and Eastern Europe to self-develop, focusing initially on Belarus. It is a true revival, a Jewish renaissance and a new and fresh approach to people-led community growth, where members of the communities take the lead. The Jewish Tapestry Project draws its inspiration for projects around three central pillars past, present and future and each project drives a central belief which can be distilled into one line

Financial health

We do not score finances when yearly spending is very small or the return has too little detail. The ratios stop meaning much at that size.

Governance

This organization files the short tax form, which does not ask about boards, policies or audits. That is normal for a small charity and is not a mark against it.

Impact evidence

Describes programs. Its tax return describes what it does but we have found no measurable results in it.

Programs described in its return (3)
  1. $100,000 spent. More than two decades later, the silence has been broken. On July 28, a striking new memorial?Memory Embrace?was unveiled on a portion of the original cemetery in Brest, Belarus. It is the culmination of a two-decade effort to restore dignity to a sacred site that was destroyed by the Nazis and paved over by the Soviets. The monument, built from recovered headstones, now stands as a public act of remembrance and reclamation.
  2. $5,000 spent. Truckload of supplies to support Jewish communities, communities with special needs, Holocaust survivors, children of all ages and families living under the poverty line in Eastern Europe
  3. $1,306 spent. Making History Together is a unique character development programme for young learners and their parents through a journey of hidden history to discover the story of the Jews of Belarus between 1941 and 1944. The programme delivers a safe and age appropriate introduction to the Holocaust giving a solid foundation for future education on the subject. For children age 12/13 and their parents.
