Governance

This organization files the short tax form, which does not ask about boards, policies or audits. That is normal for a small charity and is not a mark against it.

Impact evidence

Describes programs. Its tax return describes what it does but we have found no measurable results in it.

Programs described in its return (2)
  1. $73,730 spent. Conference: ABLE's annual conference was held during June 2025 at the University of Manitoba. At this three-day workshop-based conference, instructors present peer-reviewed hands-on innovations in biology laboratory instruction. Participants in these workshops leave knowing how to implement new laboratory activities because they are the students in each workshop, and they are provided with all the materials needed to successfully implement the new activities at their home institutions. Approximately 130 participants attended this conference. ABLE maintains an on-line archive of laboratory activities (www.ableweb.org) presented at our past workshop conferences as a permanent resource for faculty seeking materials and techniques for effective laboratory instruction. ABLE's 250 paying members have access to these materials and to past conference proceedings.
  2. $6,819 spent. Laboratory Teaching Initiative Grants: These promote the development of new undergraduate laboratory exercises through competitive grants. ABLE awarded two laboratory teaching grants in fiscal year 2025.
