Programs described in its return (3)
- $626,443 spent. SNF expanded its reach in 2024, operating through 36 clinics to provide comprehensive care to nearly 5000 children with type 1 diabetes across Uganda and Ghana (100 in Ghana). We provided access to essential resources, including insulin, medical supplies, and home deliveries and also critical medical equipment such as A1C machines, BP monitors and cold storage facilities all complemented by proactive community outreach, including over 600 home visits and nearly 7000 A1C tests were conducted.
- $109,745 spent. SNF delivered impactful camps to nearly 500 children. This psychosocial programming involves immersive experiences to cultivate a supportive community and provide disease understanding/education and essential tools for emotional well-being, self-management and resilience in the face of the challenges of living with type 1 diabetes in low resource settings.
- $55,120 spent. SNF undertook a critical study in 2024 to investigate the social determinants of health impacting children with type 1 diabetes in Africa. This research, currently ongoing in Uganda, Ghana and Kenya seeks to identify the social, economic, and environmental factors that contribute to suboptimal health outcomes in this populations. The findings will inform the development of targeted interventions and strategies for SNF to make sure that its programs improve health outcomes.
