Programs described in its return (1)
  1. $2.9 million spent. Super Shot plays a critical role in Allen Countys public health infrastructure by providing vaccines to children and adults regardless of insurance status. Super Shot accepts public and commercial insurance and if individuals are uninsured, we ask for a $15/vaccine administration fee, but turn no one away if unable to pay the administration fee. Super Shot offers weekend and evening hours at clinics located on public bus routes and offers translation services in over 120+ languages. Super Shot operates three permanent clinic locations in Allen County and has an extensive Community Outreach program. Super Shot travels to over 100 schools to and 75 community partner locations to provide on-site vaccine services. In 2024, Super Shot administered 34,109 doses of vaccine to 19,612 community members. Please see Schedule O. Duirng 2024, Seventy-eight percent (15,297) of the patients we served were children and twenty-two percent (4,315) were adults. The primary race/ethnicity of the families we served was 51% White, 22% Hispanic, 14% Black/African American, 13% Asian. 42% of our patients had Medicaid insurance, 28% private insurance, 28% uninsured/underinsured, and 2% Medicare insurance. 80% of the patients served had income levels at or below 200% of the federal poverty level. The average annual income based on the data collected from 7,983 patients is $36,451-$48,600. 93% of our patients were from Allen County with 64% from medically underserved zip codes. Since 1993, Super Shot has been ensuring the health of the most vulnerable children in our community by providing life-saving immunizations. We break down the barriers of vaccination - access and cost - and increase awareness of the importance of vaccination though our four walk-in Clinics and community education. Super Shot was founded by the compassion of two determined community leaders who cared deeply about the health of local children. Dr. Jane Irmscher, Health Commissioner of the Allen County Health Department, and Sister Mary Conrad Kirchhoff, a Poor Handmaid of Jesus Christ, brought key community leaders and hundreds of volunteers together to address our community's low immunization rate. Over thirty years later, there is still a great need to provide access to vaccines to all community members since access is determined by insurance type, financial status, and where someone lives. Super Shot provides vaccines to uninsured/underinsured, publicly, and commercially insured children and adults. We ask uninsured/underinsured families for a $15 administration fee, per vaccine, to help support our program, but no one is turned away for inability to pay. We offer all CDC recommended vaccines for children and adults. Vaccines are one of the greatest medical advancements and are the best way to prevent infectious disease. While getting vaccinated seems like the obvious choice, barriers and awareness, remain obstacles. Continuing to break down barriers as we strive to increase vaccination rates is critical to the health of our community. Our clinics ensure the most vulnerable children and adults have access to vaccines.Clinics Locations and Times:1.Grabill Missionary Church 13637 State Street, Grabill, IN 46741Monday 10 am 1 pm 2.Hobson 1515 Hobson Rd, Fort Wayne, IN 46805Tuesday & Thursday 10 am 7 pm; Wednesday & Friday 10am - 4pm; Saturday 9 am - Noon3.Fort Wayne Community Schools FACE Center 230 E. Douglas Ave, Fort Wayne, IN 46802Monday - Friday 9 am 4 pm In addition to continuing to serve the community at our own clinics, Super Shot partners with local schools and trusted partners to provide on-site vaccine clinics. Super Shot works to educate the community on the importance of immunizations through ongoing training and distribution of educational materials at local hospitals, schools, health events, to child-care providers, and at our clinic sites. Our staff empowers parents by providing them with the facts on immunizations. Our education coordinator speaks, consults, and engages in the community to provide scientific data on how immunizations work, the immunization schedule, and how immunizations save lives. Super Shot participates in many community health events to reinforce the value of community immunity. We serve children from birth through age 18 that are eligible for the Vaccine for Children Program (Medicaid eligible, uninsured, underinsured) and uninsured and underinsured adults. We also serve children and adults that are commercially insured. There are many economic reasons why vaccinations are important. From containing an infectious outbreak, to employees calling in sick and absenteeism, disease and illness cost money. But more importantly, vaccinations save lives. Vaccines protect you, me, our children, our parents, our grandchildren, our neighbors, our co-workers, and our entire community against deadly diseases.
