Impact evidence

Describes programs. Its tax return describes what it does but we have found no measurable results in it.

Programs described in its return (2)
  1. $947,165 spent. The Southside SPCA is a no-kill animal welfare organization managed and operated almost entirely by volunteers. Our paid staff consists mostly of hourly workers who care for an average of 70-80 animals each day at our shelter in Meherrin, Virginia. We rescue homeless, abandoned and abused animals in our 12-county south-central Virginia service area, provide the animals we rescue with food and shelter, medical care (including spay/neuter), and adopt them into good homes. We also engage in outreach to educate and inform residents in our service area about animal welfare issues, the importance of spay/neuter, and the availability of spay/neuter services in our area, including our low and no cost spay/neuter program for pet owners.
  2. $11,175 spent. Southside SPCA operates a thrift store, called Tail Waggers, which is devoted to supporting the organization through the sale of goods donated by volunteers and supporters. In addition to supporting the shelter, Tail Waggers helps those in the community purchase items they could otherwise not afford and presents the opportunity to educate the public about the organization's shelter and its missions.
