Governance

This organization files the short tax form, which does not ask about boards, policies or audits. That is normal for a small charity and is not a mark against it.

Impact evidence

Describes programs. Its tax return describes what it does but we have found no measurable results in it.

Programs described in its return (4)
  1. $35,000 spent. Piko Gathering, a four day intergenerational gathering for frontline Aloha Aina, Hawaiian rights, and environmental advocates. The inaugural event brought together 100 participants from across Hawaii for workshops and discussions on Hawaiian burials, ancestral lands, water protection, demilitarization, climate change, self determination, and sovereignty. The gathering fostered cultural education, intergenerational connection, and community wellness while providing food, shelter, and educational resources in partnership with other community organizations.
  2. $15,000 spent. Ka Lahui Hawaii Maluhia (Peace) Movie Nights hosts free movies in communities followed by an educational forum on political topics and issues of the day and Hawaiian history and language. Meals are served, security provided and additional information and support is provided on controversial topics where needed.
  3. $7,200 spent. Provide food and educational materials for the Red Hill spill crisis and the monthly Community Representation Initiative. We also provide free water to families still dealing with the effects of the Red Hill spill in 2021 on O'ahu.
  4. $6,900 spent. Ka Lahui Hawai'i free educational materials for educational workshops and booths on self-determination, environmental justice, and land reclamation and for our youth leadership development program for those interested in advocating for Hawaiian sovereignty, land back, and protecting Hawaiian burials.
