Programs described in its return (2)
  1. $23,080 spent. In 2025 the organization continued to focus on training in the area of skilled trades as it relates to construction, de-construction and remediation of residential property with an emphasis on city code compliance. We have conducted informational sessions, and hands-on training for members of the community interested in learning wet plaster restoration with an emphasis on the value of that skill. The training and workshops included, but not limited to, the recognition of wet plastered walls, the importance of the preparation of the walls and materials used in wet plaster work, and the importance of taking time to properly applying the material and allowing it to set properly. This training included the proper disposal of debris created by the wet plaster process paying attention materials that may be detrimental to health, safety and the environment. Training was coordinated by our project manager and project coordinator with input from the City of Detroit building and safety engineering department.
  2. $45,890 spent. We conducted hands-on workshops on the importance of understanding landscaping and the necessity for creating pleasing outdoor spaces that align with environmental conditions. The training involved, but not limited to, soil analysis, climate consideration and drainage necessary for creating a sustainable, aesthetically pleasing outdoor space. The workshops were conducted by our Project Manager with assistance from volunteers from the local community landscapers willing to allow our trainees spaces to experiment along with our vacant lots in the north end in Detroit.
