Impact evidence

Describes programs. Its tax return describes what it does but we have found no measurable results in it.

Programs described in its return (3)
  1. $251,255 spent. Our Family Workshop is a court approved co-parenting program for the whole family. Children learn how to share their thoughts and feelings about their family situations, that they are not alone and that their parents divorce is not their fault, thus freeing them up from self-blame. Parents gain insight into their words, actions and behaviors and learn how to accept the thoughts and feelings of their children without judging, minimizing or invalidating them. This program was offered virtually in 2024. During the program, children prepare posters for graduation. The six and seven year olds creasted a graduation poster that read, Things we learned in the Family Workshop I learned that you are not the reason why your parents divorce, both parents love me, its ok to live in two homes and I learned about feelings. Children who attend this program find their voice and learn ways to share their thoughts and feelings in constructive and creative ways. Whether in-person or virtual, Kids Turn San Diego continues to change lives by empowering children and healing families.
  2. $18,842 spent. The Cooperative Co-Parenting Program is a high conflict court approved co-parenting class. This program is offered virtually and helps parents learn about emotional and thought triggers, what they are, where they came from and ways to avoid them. Parents gain new awareness of their own thoughts and behaviors and learn co-parenting skills that will help them avoid emotional and thought triggers, and which help to shift their attitude and behavior toward the other parent. Parents also learn that through loss, anger and pain, positive changes are possible, no matter how desperate they may feel.
  3. $58,873 spent. Our Counseling Program offers a continuum of care for children and parents who have attended our co-parenting programs. For children, we provide a safe place for children ages 5-17 to talk about their family situation and to further develop coping and communication skills that help them manage themselves within their two homes. For parents, as way to gain individual support and further skill building, we offer advanced refresher Continue the Conversation Classes and The Graduate Program. These services are primarily offered virtually. Kids Turn San Diego is thankful to our funders who provided grants and donations for us to provide counseling services at no cost to the family. Support for our adult programs is provided through grant funding.
