Impact evidence
Describes programs. Its tax return describes what it does but we have found no measurable results in it.
Programs described in its return (5)
- $3.3 million spent. Collection: The Currier Museum of Art collects, preserves, researches, and makes accessible significant works of art. The 14,000 objects in the collection, including two houses designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, form the basis of the Museum's educational programs. The Museum maintains storage facilities and preserves objects under its care. It makes the collection fully accessible through the web, programs, publications, and social media.
- $814,981 spent. Education and community programs. The museum develops and delivers innovative educational programs for diverse audiences, including school tours, guided visits, lectures, art classes, and public events. These programs are designed to enhance understanding and appreciation of art while fostering community engagement. Special initiatives serve underserved and at-risk populations, including families impacted by opioid abuse, individuals with Alzheimer's disease and their caregivers, military veterans, immigrants, and individuals with disabilities. The museum also offers in-person, studio-based art classes for both children and adults, providing hands-on learning experiences that support creativity and lifelong learning.
- $150,151 spent. Exhibitions. The Museum normally presents six to seven special exhibitions each year. Museum creates exhibitions from its permanent collection as well as with partner institutions and individual artists. A full range of educational and community programs are presented for each exhibition.
- $702,139 spent. Ancillary services: In addition to the galleries, the museum facilities include classrooms, a 180-seat auditorium, a cafe, a shop, and other spaces
- The Currier Museum of Art (the "Museum") was established out of a predecessor organization, the Currier Gallery of Art (the "Gallery," EIN: 02-0223322). During the period covered by this Form 990, the Gallery ceased to conduct any direct operations or activities and transferred all remaining net assets to the Museum, a successor entity organized as a non-profit corporation and recognized by the IRS as a 501(c)(3) public charity. The Museum, as a newly founded non-profit corporation, will continue the Gallery's charitable mission and programs without interruption, and has maintained all of the Gallery's assets in alignment with their previous charitable purposes. The creation and transition of all assets and operations into the new Museum occurred in July 2024, with the legacy Gallery concluding all administrative and filing wind-down activities effective June 30, 2025. Aside from this organizational and structural transition, this filing Museum advances and promotes the charitable mission and exempt purpose of its predecessor in a materially similar manner as was conducted before the transfer of net assets into this new non-profit corporate entity.
