Sheridan Museum of History
Public records show a registered, tax-exempt organization in good standing.
What it says it does
The purpose of the Sheridan Museum of History is to preserve the heritage of the area by acquiring, managing and protecting a collection of irreplaceable artifacts, memorabilia and verbal recounts of days gone by. Through exhibits and printed material, we provide access to the public so they may learn from our exhibits and demonstrations. Since 2018, we have owned a historic 1914 building as a permanent location for the museum and a community gathering space "Making History Matter" in Sheridan.

Financial health
We do not score finances when yearly spending is very small or the return has too little detail. The ratios stop meaning much at that size.

Governance
This organization files the short tax form, which does not ask about boards, policies or audits. That is normal for a small charity and is not a mark against it.

Impact evidence
Describes programs. Its tax return describes what it does but we have found no measurable results in it.
Programs described in its return (2)
- $18,343 spent. In order to accomplish our mission of preserving the history of Sheridan, it is necessary to have an alarm system, advertise our events, have liability & building insurance, depreciation and utilities. Without these operating costs, there would be no museum and the history of the area would be lost.
- $1,621 spent. The museum has evolved into a quasi community center. We host free speaker programs and civic meetings. We also provide a Heritage Day for our elementary school students and opportunities for senior high school students to obtain their required community service hours. We continue to make repeat visitations to the museum a priority by continually upgrading our displays and improving our research area.
