Financial health

We do not score finances when yearly spending is very small or the return has too little detail. The ratios stop meaning much at that size.

Governance

This organization files the short tax form, which does not ask about boards, policies or audits. That is normal for a small charity and is not a mark against it.

Impact evidence

Describes programs. Its tax return describes what it does but we have found no measurable results in it.

Programs described in its return (1)
  1. THE FRANCES MCGLANNAN FOUNDATION'S MISSION IS TO ASSIST FAMILIES OF ELEMENTARY AND MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS CHALLENGED BY DYSLEXIA AND RELATED LANGUAGE LEARNING DIFFERENCES MEET THE TUITION COSTS OF A SPECIALIZED SCHOOL. DYSLEXIA IS A SPECIFIC LEARNING DISABILITY WHICH IMPAIRS A PERSON'S ABILITY TO READ, WRITE AND SPELL AND IMPACTS 1 IN 5 INDIVIDUALS. IT CAN BE VERY DIFFICULT FOR CHILDREN WITH DYSLEXIA TO SUCCEED ACADEMICALLY IN A CONVENTIONAL MAINSTREAM EDUCATIONAL ENVIRONMENT. SPECIALIZED SCHOOLS PROVIDE CHILDREN THE OPPORTUNITY TO LEARN TO READ IN A QUALIFIED AND EXPERIENCED EDUCATIONAL SETTING NECESSARY TO MEET THEIR UNIQUE LEARNING NEEDS. THROUGH THE HELP PROVIDED BY THE FOUNDATION, AT-RISK STUDENTS FROM LOW TO MODERATE INCOME FAMILIES ARE ABLE TO RECEIVE EARLY INTERVENTION WHICH IS CRITICAL FOR CHILDREN LEARNING TO READ. THIS ENABLES CHILDREN TO REALIZE THEIR TRUE ACADEMIC POTENTIAL WHICH IN TURN, LEADS TO GREATER SUCCESS IN LIFE.
