Governance

This organization files the short tax form, which does not ask about boards, policies or audits. That is normal for a small charity and is not a mark against it.

Programs described in its return (2)
  1. $9,000 spent. Education and providing a brighter future for students are central to the mission of the Kump Education Center. The Center works with local elementary schools to identify students who need extra help in math and reading and provides targeted tutoring to help them meet grade-level standards. Tutors are high school and college students who connect well with younger learners. Programs such as Math Magic combine tutoring, meals, and enrichment activities in a supportive after-school environment. The annual cost of the program is approximately $5,000. The Kump Education Center also offers summer educational programs that benefit both children and parents. In partnership with the YMCA summer day camp, children visit the historic Kump House weekly for educational activities and special events. Additional programs include a Spanish language and culture camp and a fun learning camp designed to reinforce skills learned during the school year. These summer programs cost approximately $4,000 to $5,000 annually and provide safe, enriching activities for children while helping working parents meet childcare needs during the summer months.
  2. $24,000 spent. One of the most significant accomplishments of the Kump Education Center this year was the replacement of porch roofs on all three porches of the historic Kump House. The project was necessary to stop numerous leaks that were damaging the interior of the more than 100 year old home, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The Kump House is home to one of the largest collections of original furnishings of any historic home in America open to the public and welcomes hundreds of visitors annually for tours, educational programs, and special events. By preserving this important landmark, the project benefits students, teachers, local residents, and tourists while supporting the Kump Education Center mission of historic preservation, heritage education, and cultural tourism. Cultural tourism strengthens local economies, preserves community traditions, and creates meaningful educational experiences for visitors and residents alike.
