Financial health
We do not score finances when yearly spending is very small or the return has too little detail. The ratios stop meaning much at that size.

Governance
This organization files the short tax form, which does not ask about boards, policies or audits. That is normal for a small charity and is not a mark against it.

- $45,574 spent. NEWARK YOGA MOVEMENT (NYM) HAS SERVICED OVER 40 SCHOOLS IN NEWARK, NJ OVER THE LAST SIXTEEN YEARS IN GRADES PRE-K THROUGH 12TH SERVING OVER 43,000 CHILDREN. DOSAGE (FREQUENCY OF YOGA AND TIME PER CLASS) VARIES BASED ON SCHOOL NEEDS AND AGE OF CHILDREN. ALL LEVELS OF CHILDREN RECEIVE YOGA - FROM TIER 1 AND TIER 2 CHILDREN (HAVING MANY BEHAVIORAL NEEDS) TO CHILDREN HAVING SPECIAL NEEDS, ATHLETES AND MORE. OUTCOMES: OVER AND OVER STUDENTS REDUCE THEIR ANXIETY AND STRESS AND LEARN HOW TO HANDLE SITUATIONS DIFFERENTLY. NOTE THAT IN AN URBAN ENVIRONMENT, IT IS OFTEN TWO STEPS FORWARD, ONE STEP BACK. FOR EXAMPLE, MANY CHILDREN LIVE ON A STAGE OF CHAOS, SINGLE HOUSEHOLD, GUARDIAN, PARENT IN JAIL, DRUGS, SHOOTINGS. IT'S A LOT SO IF ONE IS ANGRY, THE BEHAVIOR OFTEN SEEN AT HOME IS VIOLENT. IN SCHOOL, WHEN THEY LEARN YOGA, THEY SEE THEY CAN SHIFT ANGER USING BREATH AND THAT TAKES TIME. OUR PROGRAM CONTINUES WITH A TOP NEWARK HIGH SCHOOL WHERE WE TEACH 1200 STUDENTS INCLUDING TEACHING YOGA FOR ATHLETES AND SELF-CARE FOR THE STAFF. STUDENTS CANNOT BELIEVE HOW YOGA HELPED THEM REDUCE ANXIETY AND FIND CALM AND A BIT OF PAUSE, EVEN THE STUDENTS AT SCHOOLS WHERE BEHAVIOR IS CHALLENGING. FURTHER, WALKING THROUGH ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS WHERE THERE WAS PREVIOUSLY POOR BEHAVIOR, HAS SHIFTED TO QUIET HALLWAYS AND GOOD STUDENT BEHAVIOR IN THE CLASSROOM. THE HEAD OF SCHOOLS FOR ONE OF OUR PROGRAMS NOTED THAT STUDENTS MENTIONED TO HER THAT THEY ARE USING THESE TECHNIQUES BEFORE TESTING AND TO CALM DOWN. LINK COMMUNITY CHARTER SCHOOL LEAD MARIA PARADISO SAID "STUDENTS IN PARTICULAR NEED THESE OPPORTUNITIES TO STOP AND FOCUS ON THEIR OWN WELL-BEING. I WOULD ENCOURAGE ALL SCHOOL LEADERS TO FIGURE OUT HOW TO BRING THESE TOOLS INTO YOUR SCHOOL."STAFF YOGA/STAFF DEVELOPMENT SESSIONS WITH SCHOOLS: EDUCATORS CONTINUE TO BE STRESSED OUT AND WHENEVER WE CAN, WE OFFER STAFF SELF-CARE. AS WE COMPLETED OUR 15TH YEAR, WE SERVED OVER 6,000 EDUCATORS IN SELF-CARE PROGRAMS. THE NBOE VIRTUAL TWICE A MONTH SELF-CARE FOR EDUCATORS, ENDED JUNE 2024 AS THEIR GRANT RAN OUT, HENCE A DECLINE IN IMPORTANT STAFF DEVELOPMENT.FACEBOOK LIVE CLASSES:COMMUNITY YOGA REMAINS POPULAR AND FREE TO ALL PARTICIPANTS BOTH IN PERSON AND ONLINE THAT STARTED DURING COVID. NYM DOES NOT CHARGE FOR ANY OF THESE CLASSES, ALTHOUGH WE SOFTLY ASK FOR DONATIONS. THIS ALSO INCLUDES PRE-NATAL YOGA GIVEN IN-PERSON IN THE COMMUNITY OF WHICH PROGRAMMING FEE CHARGED TO THE FACILITY.
