- $46,260 spent. Asian Children's Mission (ACM) has a children's home in Myanmar (Burma). The face of orphans in this country is varied and complicated and is getting worse every year. The children at Hope come from all parts of the country. ACM provides these orphaned children with the best care and support possible. They have come to us through death of a parent, addiction, food insecurity and neglect. Some parents in very remote areas, send their children to orphanages to secure an education and hence a better life. We are concerned with providing nutrient dense foods and teach sustainable ways to accomplish this. Our 13 staff members have embraced these children as their own and seek to love and guide them as parents. The education in Myanmar is almost nonexistent so all the children at our children's home attend private school, paid for by donors that see this vision and know that education is the way out of poverty and disfunction. This is our third year of private school education and we see an amazing difference in the children and all of them are learning English as their second or third language. The results of this decision continue to convince us that we made a wonderful commitment to change lives.
- $32,200 spent. Asian Children's Mission (ACM) focuses on education and protection of children. ACM has 4 preschools and three remote learning schools, educating and carrying for more than 230 children. The goal of ACM is to prepare children for kindergarten and beyond, to love and guide them in those early years of life. Our remote schools also have the responsibility of many levels of schooling now as the government schools are almost nonfunctional. More staff is needed and will be brought on as numbers increase. Along with education, we provide breakfast and lunch as well as support for the families in need.
- $21,000 spent. Asian Children's Mission (ACM) has a school for disabled children, known as Joshua School, in Mandalay (central Myanmar). ACM provides education and therapy for these special children who prior to attending school had no education or training. Through this ACM program we develop families that see their children in a different light. We have gone to great lengths to provide excellent teacher training and to purchase equipment that will make our program successful. We have a new well educated mentor assisting in our training of the teachers and our programs. We have seen great growth in our students and look to the future for more. ACM now has 22 special needs students enrolled at Joshua School, taught by 7 teachers. Through a generous grant we are able to provide breakfast, snack and lunch, ensuring a nutrient dense diet which aids with their learning. Expansion of Joshua School is limited only by the support we receive. New plans have already begun for adding space to our present school. It is truly remarkable to see how these children are thriving and the goals set by the teachers are aimed at some of them going into main stream schools. However with the education system so broken in Myanmar, many parents opted for their children to stay and continue to learn at Joshua School. Our teachers are receiving constant education through online classes and through the mentor classes set up. It is truly wonderful to see!
- $95,540 spent. Myanmar leads Southeast Asia in natural disasters and because of this ACM is heavily involved every year in relief work. In March of 2025 Mandalay was hit with a 7.7 magnitude earthquake. The staff of ACM responded within 3 days to the devastating situation and much support was given to accomplish their goals. In addition, the following month, horrible flash floods wiped away IDP camps and surrounding villages. ACM's in-country staff worked side by side with other non-profits to assist and protect refugees and displaced people groups. There is a high need for shelter, food, clothing and HOPE. ACM also helps to build/rebuild homes, plant crops, provide schools and food throughout the country.
