Impact evidence

Describes programs. Its tax return describes what it does but we have found no measurable results in it.

Programs described in its return (2)
  1. $155,685 spent. Human Rights Defense Advocacy and Education: Over 40 activists received legal representation and their families humanitarian support. Throughout 2024 and 2025, a growing community of lawyers, activists, and community organizers in the diaspora refused to accept impunity in Equatorial Guinea. EG Justice has closely worked with the Equatoguinean Commission of Jurists (ECJ) defending human rights advocates, representing prisoners of conscience, and protecting the country's most vulnerable communities. Coupled with the support to the activists EG Justice coordinated humanitarian support to over 40 families with loved ones in detention. 37 peaceful protesters secured release. In July 2024, the government arrested dozens of peaceful protesters on the island of Annobn. They had gathered to demand an end to the blasting of dynamite on the island. Ultimately, 37 individuals were incarcerated in inhumane conditions at a maximum security facility for eleven months. We secured legal assistance on behalf of those detained and provided humanitarian assistance to their families throughout their detention. We also advocated at the UN, European Parliament, and with specific governments for the release of all prisoners. In June 2025, President Obiang granted pardons to all 37 individuals. 7 rights activists defended. With support from Freedom House's LifeLine grants, EG Justice coordinated legal assistance through the Equatoguinean Commission of Jurists (ECJ) for seven rights activists arbitrarily arrested and incarcerated. We also offered humanitarian assistanceincluding food, medicines, and other basic necessitiesto the families of these prisoners of conscience.
  2. $137,074 spent. Anticorruption and Anti-Kleptocracy Work: 450 young people's cases were documented. We documented a brutal campaign led by the vice president that saw 450 young people arrested and incarcerated under false pretenses. We continue to provide legal aid to survivors and to families of the young people killed in custody.
