Impact evidence

Describes programs. Its tax return describes what it does but we have found no measurable results in it.

Programs described in its return (1)
  1. $982,610 spent. Founded in 1994, English In Action helps adult immigrants learn English and develop the skills they need to become more effective and engaged employees, parents, and community members. The friendships that often occur between students and tutors bridge cultural divides and address the fact that many immigrant and non-immigrant community members have limited opportunities to build friendships. Our participants have opportunities to engage in local activities, learn about civic engagement, and practice public speaking and storytelling so that their experiences and perspective can be shared with the broader public.English In Action matches adults who want to learn English one-on-one and in small groups with volunteer tutors and offers digital literacy instruction. Our service area includes students and tutors who live and/or work from Aspen to Carbondale. Our primary office is in El Jebel with a satellite office in the Pitkin County Library in Aspen. Last year, we served over 393 adult students, with the help of 292 volunteer tutors.
