THE PROGRAM IS FREE TO ANY MEMBER OF THE PUBLIC WHO WISHES TO PARTICIPATE. THERE ARE NO INCOME GUIDELINES OR CUT-OFFS AND WE DO NOT REQUEST THEM ON INTAKE FORMS. THE PROGRAM IS COMPRISED OF A PARENT-TRAINING PROGRAM CALLED "EARN WHILE YOU LEARN". IT IS DEVELOPED BY A 3RD PARTY EDUCATION COMPANY AND DISTRIBUTED BY HERITAGE HOUSE ONLINE. THE PROGRAM HAS WON MULTIPLE AWARDS NATIONALLY FOR EXCELLENCE IN CONTENT AND CLARITY. IT IS UPDATED ANNUALLY TO BE KEPT CURRENT WITH MEDICAL, PEDIATRIC, AND EMERGENCY CARE GUIDELINES AS THEY CHANGE SO THE CONTENT IS ALWAYS ACCURATE AND RELEVANT. ALL LESSONS ARE DVD BASED FOR FLEXIBILITY AND CONSISTENCY IN TEACHING CONTENT AND INCLUDE WORKSHEETS THAT ARE REVIEWED WITH THE PEER COUNSELOR TO HELP THE STUDENT GET AS MUCH AS THEY CAN FROM EACH LESSON. THE PURPOSE OF THE PROGRAM IS TO TEACH PRACTICAL SKILLS TO NEW PARENTS OR GRANDPARENTS WHO ARE PARENTING AGAIN AFTER MANY YEARS WITHOUT CHILDREN AT HOME. IT ASSUMES NO PREVIOUS KNOWLEDGE OF INFANT CARE OR CHILDCARE. THERE ARE MORE THAN 200 LESSONS IN THE SERIES BEGINNING WITH THE EARLY STAGES OF PREGNANCY, INCLUDING LESSONS ON EFFECTS OF SMOKING AND DRUG USE ON PREGNANCY, HYDRATION, NUTRITION, BONDING WITH THE BABY BEFORE BIRTH AND ADAPTING TO YOUR CHANGING BODY. THERE IS EVEN A SERIES TARGETED SPECIFICALLY TO EXPECTING DADS AND THEIR EMOTIONAL NEEDS. THE SERIES INCLUDES TOPICS SUCH AS INFANT FIRST AID, PROPER DIAPER CHANGING, BATHING, CRADLE CAP, FEEDING, SLEEP HABITS, SHAKEN BABY SYNDROME, MANAGING A SLEEP SCHEDULE, BONDING, SAFETY, CAR SEAT USE, FINDING RELIABLE CHILD CARE PROVIDERS, PREPARING TO RETURN TO WORK, CHILDHOOD PERSONALITIES, DISCIPLINE VS. ABUSE, THE NEED FOR CHECKUPS, AND MUCH MORE. LESSONS ARE EACH ABOUT 45 MINUTES LONG. THE FULL CONTENT IS AVAILABLE AT THE EDUCATOR'S WEBSITE. THE GOAL OF THE PROGRAM IS TO PREPARE PARENTS AS EFFECTIVELY AS POSSIBLE AND GIVE CHILDREN THE VERY BEST START AND RESOURCES THEY CAN HAVE. WE GENEROUSLY REWARD THE PARENTS FOR EACH LESSON THEY DO WITH "BABY BUCKS". VIRTUAL MONEY THEY SPEND IN OUR STORE FOR BRAND NEW BABY ITEMS INCLUDING DIAPERS, INFANT CARE PRODUCTS, CLOTHES, CRIB SHEETS, SHOES, ETC. PARENTS CAN SAVE UP POINTS DURING PREGNANCY TO PURCHASE A BRAND-NEW CRIB AND MATTRESS FOR THEIR CHILD. THE SECOND PROGRAM OFFERED IS CALLED EMERGENCY KIT. THIS KIT CONSISTS OF APPROXIMATELY A WEEK'S WORTH OF CLOTHING, SWADDLERS, RECEIVING BLANKETS, DIAPERS AND WIPES, PLUS TOILETRIES, LAUNDRY DETERGENT AND LAUNDRY BAG PACKED IN A REUSABLE TOTE. THESE KITS ARE AVAILABLE TO NEW MOMS IN EMERGENT SITUATIONS WHICH INCLUDE THOSE UNEXPECTED DELIVERIES, LATE PREGNANCY DISCOVERIES OR ANNOUNCEMENT, EMERGENCY FOSTER PLACEMENT OR IN CASES OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE CREATING A SITUATION WHERE PREPARATION FOR A NEWBORN IS INADEQUATE. WE WORK WITH THE COMMUNITY, CHURCHES, LOCAL OB/NICU DEPARTMENTS, AND OTHER OUTSIDE SOCIAL AGENCIES FOR REFERRALS FOR THIS PROGRAM. IN MARCH 2024, WE OFFERED A THIRD PROGRAM. LIMITED OB ULTRASOUND SERVICES UNDER THE DIRECTION OF AN MD. THIS SERVICE OPERATES AS PUNXSY WOMEN'S CLINIC AND PROVIDES FREE LIMITED OB ULTRASOUNDS TO WOMEN WHO HAVE A POSITIVE PREGNANCY TEST, ALSO PROVIDED FREE, AND ARE ESTIMATED TO BE 7 WEEKS PREGNANT BASED ON THE LAST MENSTRUATION. OUR ULTRASOUNDS ARE PROVIDED ONLY TO ANSWER THESE QUESTIONS: IS THERE A VIABLE PREGNANCY IN THE UTERUS? IS THERE EVIDENCE OF A HEARTBEAT? AND WHAT IS THE APPROXIMATE GESTATIONAL AGE OF THE BABY BASED ON MEASUREMENTS SET FORTH IN OUR POLICY AND PROCEDURE MANUAL. IN ADDITION TO CONFIRMATION ULTRASOUNDS, OUR TRAINED MEDICAL STAFF PARTICIPATES IN SKILLS TRAINING DAYS IN WHICH ULTRASOUNDS ARE SUPERVISED BY AN RDMS FOR ADEQUATE SKILL COMPETENCY. DURING THESE SESSIONS, ULTRASOUNDS ARE OFFERED TO ANY PREGNANT WOMAN IN FIRST AND SECOND TRIMESTER OF PREGNANCY.
