What it says it does

Since its founding in 1976, the Charlottesville Track Club has supported the running community in Charlottesville. Focusing on philanthropy through not-for-profit races CTC has raised millions of dollars for charities. The Women's 4-Miler, for instance, has raised more than $4 million for the Emily Couric Clinical Cancer Center. In the process tens of thousands of women have completed the training and run the race. Our members volunteer at local races, helping runners navigate race day and the course, but also meet up with others of the same mindset, and running, training together builds the bond of true friendships. The bonds are reinforced and friendships measured not not only with birthdays or anniversaries, but in a child's first race, a training partner's personal best or a Boston Qualifying Time.

Programs described in its return (3)
  1. $216,960 spent. Charlottesville Ten Miler: Established 1976, The Charlottesville Ten Miler is the area's oldest and most prestigious footrace. Widely considered to be the "most scenic urban course" in the state, this rolling tour of Charlottesville brings runners through Jefferson's beautiful UVA "grounds", up Rugby Road, down Preston, up the historic downtown mall, around Court Square and the gorgeous Park Street neighborhoods, up Main Street and by the famous University "Corner." The race supports multiple charities in the local area with large (20k+) and small (1-3k) donations from race proceeds and donations.
  2. $155,366 spent. Charlottesville Women's Four Miler: The 41st annual Charlottesville Women's Four Miler was held at Foxfield on Saturday, September 2nd, 2023. This much-loved community event began in 1983 and, since then, has grown to become the largest women's-only race in Virginia while raising over 4.2 million dollars for the UVA Breast Care Center. It is a fun, challenging, and deeply meaningful local tradition. Participants run or walk the beautiful countryside course, or participate virtually from anywhere. Proceeds benefit the UVA Breast Care Program. As of fiscal year end, final donations were being collected and the payment to benefit the UVA Breast Care Program was in process, but not reflected in fiscal year financials.
  3. $91,788 spent. All other races run by the club, including any associated donations. Expenses included direct expenses of the races, a storage shed for the club, and a variety of beneficiary payments to local charities and for our scholarship program.
