Financial health
We do not score finances when yearly spending is very small or the return has too little detail. The ratios stop meaning much at that size.

Governance
This organization files the short tax form, which does not ask about boards, policies or audits. That is normal for a small charity and is not a mark against it.

- $44,841 spent. In collaboration with Taylor and Francis, MER successfully published four issues of the Journal of Museum Education over the course of the year. Each issue was developed through the dedicated efforts of MERs co-editors, alongside contributions from a diverse group of guest authors and guest editors, bringing a wide range of perspectives and expertise to the publication. The journal continues to play a vital role in advancing scholarship within the museum field, serving as a respected platform for the exchange of innovative ideas, research findings, and professional practices. By fostering critical dialogue and disseminating high-quality academic work, it significantly strengthens the global body of knowledge in museum education and supports the ongoing development of museum professionals and institutions worldwide.
- $2,179 spent. In September 2025, MER hosted a dedicated writers workshop designed to support and mentor prospective contributors to the Journal of Museum Education (JME) and other MER publications. The workshop provided participants with practical guidance on academic writing, peer review processes, and publishing standards, while also creating a collaborative space for emerging and established writers to refine their ideas and develop strong submissions for future issues. In addition to these capacity-building efforts, MER Board members actively engage in professional outreach throughout the year. They represent the organization at conferences, symposia, and workshops, where they share insights into MERs initiatives, publications, and impact on the museum education field. Through presentations, panel discussions, and networking, Board members help expand MERs visibility, foster new partnerships, and contribute to broader conversations shaping the future of museum education.
