Financial health

We do not score finances when yearly spending is very small or the return has too little detail. The ratios stop meaning much at that size.

Governance

This organization files the short tax form, which does not ask about boards, policies or audits. That is normal for a small charity and is not a mark against it.

Impact evidence

Describes programs. Its tax return describes what it does but we have found no measurable results in it.

Programs described in its return (3)
  1. 2024 Annual convention hosting presents an opportunity for those in the profession also allowing students to network with other professionals in the areas of speech, language pathological and audiological fields. Our annual conventions are critical for stimulating industry demand and educating members on new products and services. Networking opportunities are apparent because it provides a space for members, volunteers, and stakeholders to collaborate, share ideas, and build community, provided the gathering's agenda is not predominantly social and recreational.
  2. Increased membership creates larger donor and volunteer access which directly increase our pool of engaged advocates, which ultimately translates to higher rates of event participation, volunteering, and charitable giving.
  3. Creation of Speech newsletter which will provide monthly vital communications and engagement tool for NYSSLHA members. This will create a dedicated community of donors and volunteers by sharing impact stories, promoting upcoming events, and delivering important transparency updates.
