Financial health
We do not score finances when yearly spending is very small or the return has too little detail. The ratios stop meaning much at that size.

- THE ACADEMY HOSTS AN ANNUAL SCIENTIFIC MEETING WITH THE GOAL OF EDUCATION, MEMBERSHIP MEETING AND NETWORKING. IN 2025 THERE WERE 177 REGISTERED ATTENDEES.
- THE ACADEMY CONDUCTS LOBBYING AND ADVOCACY TO PROMOTE PATIENT SAFETY AND AWARENESS WHICH ULTIMATELY BENEFIT THE CITIZENS OF PENNSYLVANIA. IN 2025, PAD MAINTAINED A STRONG PRESENCE THROUGH VARIOUS ADVOCACY ACTIVITIES THROUGHOUT THE YEAR, OFFERING SEVERAL OPPORTUNITIES FOR MEMBER ENGAGEMENT IN BOTH THE LEGISLATIVE ARENA AND GRASSROOTS COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT. PAD WORKED TO EDUCATE THE PENNSYLVANIA LEGISLATURE ON THE PROFESSION OF DERMATOLOGY, RAISING ITS PROFILE AS A KEY STAKEHOLDER IN CRITICAL HEALTHCARE DISCUSSIONS. THROUGHOUT THE YEAR, PAD MET WITH LEGISLATORS AND THEIR STAFF TO DISCUSS LEGISLATIVE PRIORITIES, HEALTH CARE INITIATIVES, AND TO PROVIDE STAKEHOLDER FEEDBACK ON CURRENT LEGISLATION.
- THE POLITICAL ADVOCACY COMMITTEE FOCUSED ON MONITORING INSURANCE-RELATED ISSUES, INCLUDING THE CUMBERSOME AND LENGTHY CREDENTIALING PROCESS, WHICH IT BELIEVES SHOULD BE STREAMLINED TO IMPROVE ACCESS TO CARE. PAD ALSO ADDRESSED CONCERNS REGARDING CLOSED NETWORKS IN CERTAIN AREAS, WHERE INSURANCE COMPANIES LIMIT PATIENT ACCESS TO DERMATOLOGISTS DESPITE EXTENDED WAIT TIMES. IN ADDITION, EFFORTS WERE MADE TO IMPROVE COMMUNICATION BETWEEN PRIVATE PRACTICES AND INSURANCE PROVIDERS TO ENHANCE TRANSPARENCY. THROUGHOUT THIS PERIOD, PAD CONTINUED TO ADVOCATE FOR IMPROVED REIMBURSEMENT RATES AND GREATER TRANSPARENCY IN THE PRIOR AUTHORIZATION PROCESS AS THE SYSTEM WAS IMPLEMENTED IN 2025.
- VOLUNTEER DERMATOLOGISTS AND RESIDENTS PROVIDED SKIN CHECKS AND EDUCATIONAL MATERIAL ON SKIN CANCER PREVENTION TO THE FIRE FIGHTERS. IN MAY 2025, VOLUNTEER DERMATOLOGISTS AND RESIDENTS VISITED THE CAPITOL TO PROVIDE COMPLIMENTARY SKIN SCREENINGS TO MEMBERS OF THE COMMUNITY, OFFERING SKIN CHECKS AND DISTRIBUTING EDUCATIONAL MATERIALS ON SKIN CANCER PREVENTION. THIS EFFORT ALSO SERVED TO RAISE AWARENESS ABOUT THE IMPORTANCE OF EARLY DETECTION, SKIN CANCER RISKS, AND UV PROTECTION.
