Governance

This organization files the short tax form, which does not ask about boards, policies or audits. That is normal for a small charity and is not a mark against it.

Impact evidence

Describes programs. Its tax return describes what it does but we have found no measurable results in it.

Programs described in its return (4)
  1. $38,000 spent. CAMPERSHIPS - EACH YEAR WE PROVIDE CAMPERSHIPS TO FAMILIES IN SARATOGA COUNTY WHO CANNOT AFFORD SUMMER CAMPS. FAMILIES OFTEN RELY ON CAMPS TO CARE FOR THEIR CHILDREN WHILE THEY ARE OUT OF SCHOOL FOR THE SUMMER, SO THE PARENTS CAN CONTINUE WORKING. THEREFORE, EACH YEAR WE SEND SEVERAL CHILDREN TO LOCAL DAY CAMPS AS WELL AS SLEEPAWAY CAMPS. THE NUMBER OF CHILDREN SERVED DEPENDS ON THE NUMBER OF REQUESTS FOR ASSISTANCE WE GET EACH YEAR. PROVIDED 38,000 TO SPONSOR CHILDREN IN SUMMER CAMPS.
  2. $15,000 spent. SCHOLARSHIPS - EACH YEAR WE PROVIDE 4 SCHOLARSHIPS TO HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS WHO WILL BE ATTENDING COLLEGE TO STUDY IN AN AREA THAT HELPS/SUPPORTS CHILDREN.
  3. $14,925 spent. EMPTY STOCKING PROJECT - THE EMPTY STOCKING PROJECT IS THE LARGEST PROGRAM THAT THE SARATOGA COUNTY CHILDRENS COMMITTEE EXECUTES EACH YEAR. THE PROJECT TYPICALLY SERVES OVER 1,000 CHILDREN FROM LOW-INCOME FAMILIES IN SARATOGA COUNTY. THE MISSION IS TO EMBODY THE HOLIDAY SPIRIT BY GIVING LOCAL CHILDREN GIFTS, CLOTHING, AND NECESSITIES DURING THE HOLIDAY SEASON THAT THEY OTHERWISE WOULD NOT HAVE. THE PROJECT BEGINS IN THE FALL WHEN AGENCIES AND SCHOOLS IN SARATOGA COUNTY IDENTIFY CHILDREN WHO ARE IN NEED. THE COMMITTEE THEN MATCHES A SPONSOR WITH EACH CHILD. MEMBERS OF THE COMMITTEE, LOCAL INDIVIDUALS, CIVIC GROUPS, AND COMPANIES WORK TO FULFILL A CHILDS HOLIDAY WISH LIST. THIS LIST MAY INCLUDE TOYS, CLOTHING, AND OTHER ITEMS THE CHILD WISHES FOR. THE COMMITTEE COLLECTS THE GIFTS, CHECKS THEM AGAINST THE WISH LISTS FOR ACCURACY, AND COMPLETES ADDITIONAL SHOPPING, IF NECESSARY. THE AGENCIES AND SCHOOLS THEN RETRIEVE THE GIFTS AND DISTRIBUTE THEM TO THE FAMILIES IN MID-DECEMBER. PROVIDED HOLIDAY GIFTS, CLOTHING, AND NECESSITIES TO 1,035 CHILDREN.
  4. $13,422 spent. BACK TO SCHOOL PROGRAM - AT THE BEGINNING OF THE SCHOOL YEAR, THE SARATOGA COUNTY CHILDRENS COMMITTEE PROVIDES BACK-TO-SCHOOL SUPPLIES AND CLOTHING TO CHILDREN IN SARATOGA COUNTY. BACK TO SCHOOL CAN BE A VERY COSTLY TIME FOR FAMILIES. CHILDREN NEED NEW CLOTHING, SHOES, AND SUPPLIES TO START THE SCHOOL YEAR ON THE RIGHT FOOT. THE COMMITTEE PROVIDES SCHOOL SUPPLIES, SHOES, AND CLOTHING BY USING PHYSICAL AND MONETARY DONATIONS FROM THE COMMUNITY. EACH YEAR WE SERVE 50-75 CHILDREN THROUGH THIS PROGRAM. WE PROVIDED 50 BACKPACKS FILLED WITH SCHOOL SUPPLIES PLUS CLOTHING AND SCHOOL SUPPLIES FOR APPROXIMATELY 60 CHILDREN.
