Impact evidence

Describes programs. Its tax return describes what it does but we have found no measurable results in it.

Programs described in its return (3)
  1. $18,320 spent. Since its inception, the foundation has achieved several milestones in serving the Tibetan community, particularly in their resettlement in New York. We have provided essential support through donations of food and clothing, as well as programs designed to empower individuals and foster resilience. These include mindfulness training to help overcome challenges, one-on-one meditation sessions, and English tutoring for English as a New Language (ENL) students. Our services are primarily offered throughout Ulster County, especially in Kingston, New Paltz, Hurley, Accord, and Lake Katrine.
  2. $5,230 spent. You Are Beautiful, I Am Beautiful program began in 2006 in Dublin, Ireland when Yungchen Lhamo visited and performed at a local assisted living facility there serving elderly residents suffering from dementia and in need of long-term nursing care. Since then, the program has further developed in Upstate New York (where One Drop of Kindness is based) and included: musical performances by Yungchen, some featuring Natalie Merchant, and the use of simple Buddhist mantras, for the benefit of homeless, developmentally disabled and mentally ill residents in the area. This ongoing program has received prominent media attention from Newsweek Magazine and Voice of America, and has inspired a similar program that was recently started in Spain.
  3. $4,130 spent. The foundation's Empathetic Listening and Compassionate Training program brings one-on-one counseling services to some of the neediest individuals living in upstate New York. Led by board director Tenzin Shaydrup, One Drop of Kindness currently provides compassionate listening, mindfulness and meditation services to approximately 260 homeless, disabled and low-income people in the Kingston and Woodstock areas of New York. With support from Peter Buffett's NoVo Foundation, this program also offers such practical help as financial literacy counseling (e.g. budgeting, credit score recovery and debt relief) to those in need.
