Financial health

We do not score finances when yearly spending is very small or the return has too little detail. The ratios stop meaning much at that size.

Governance

This return does not answer enough of the governance questions to score.

Impact evidence

Describes programs. Its tax return describes what it does but we have found no measurable results in it.

Programs described in its return (3)
  1. $180,018 spent. EMPIRE GIRLS STATE - A HANDS-ON WEEK-LONG EDUCATIONAL WORKSHOP, FOCUSING ON AMERICANISM AND THE POLITICAL PROCESS. THE GOAL OF THE PROGRAM IS TO HELP STUDENTS TO BETTER UNDERSTAND DEMOCRATIC IDEALS AND THE PART WE AS INDIVIDUALS PLAY IN CARRYING OUT THESE IDEALS. THE PROGRAM, WHICH HAS BEEN ACCREDITED BY THE NATIONAL COLLEGE CREDIT RECOMMENDATION SERVICES (NATIONAL CCRS), IS A NON-PARTISAN ATTEMPT TO TEACH HIGH SCHOOL JUNIOR GIRLS ABOUT GOVERNMENT, POLITICS, AND AMERICANISM.
  2. POPPY - THE AMERICAN LEGION POPPY IS HAND-MADE BY VETERANS FOR WHICH THE VERTERAN RECEIVES MONEY FOR EACH POPPY MADE. MANY OF THESE VETERANS ARE IN VA MEDICAL CENTERS, AND IN SOME CASES, THE THERAPEUTIC BENEFITS DERIVED ARE MOST HELPFUL TO THEM. PROMOTING PUBLIC AWARENESS AND THE HISTORY AND PURPOSE OF THE POPPY IS PART OF THIS PROGRAM.
  3. $15,064 spent. CHILDREN & YOUTH - BY PROTECTING, CARING FOR, AND SUPPORTING CHILDREN AND YOUTH, PARTICULARLY THOSE OF VETERANS AND MILITARY FAMILIES, THE AMERICAN LEGION AUXILIARY MEMBERS FULFILL OUR BRAND PROMISE OF BEING COMMUNITY LEADERS AND RESPONSIBLE AMERICAN CITIZENS WHILE CARING FOR MILITARY FAMILIES.
