- $856,497 spent. Here There Are Blueberries Written by Founding Artistic Director Moises Kaufman and company member Amanda Gronich. Winner of Theater J's Trish Vradenburg Jewish Play Prize, the world premiere of Here There Are Blueberries was co-produced by Tectonic Theater Project and California's La Jolla Playhouse where the Los Angeles Times named it the "Best of Theater 2022," referring to it as "an impeccable production with symphonic subtlety." The San Diego Union Tribune called the production a "chilling world-premiere - engrossing, unsettling, and deeply moving" while Broadway World exclaimed "Here There Are Blueberries should be staged in every major city in America." The production ran in late summer 2022 at the Sheila and Hughes Potiker Theatre, followed by a May 2023 run at Shakespeare Theatre Company in Washington, DC. In 2024, Here There Are Blueberries ran off-Broadway at New York Theatre Workshop, April 17-June 30, 2024. The production became the highest-grossing production in New York Theatre Workshop's forty-year history. Additionally, Here There Are Blueberries continued offering robust audience engagement thanks to our partnership with Fellowships at Auschwitz for the Study of Professional Ethics (FASPE). Here There Are Blueberries will return to the stage in January 2025 as we kick off our National Tour, with stops slated for McCarter Theatre Center (Princeton, NJ), The Wallis (Los Angeles, CA), and Berkeley Repertory Company (Berkeley, CA). VELOUR: A Drag Spectacular By Moises Kaufman and Sasha Velour. After a robust February workshop at New 42 studios in NYC with Sasha Velour, we took this play in development to our collaborators at La Jolla Playhouse for a world premiere co-production on their season which played August 13-September 15, 2024. The play received rave reviews, exceeded box office goals, and the run was extended. This collaboration between Tectonic and House of Velour was an example of our commitment to experimenting with form and consistently seeking new collaborators from diverse backgrounds. 2024 Moment Work Institute - Education and Community Engagement Activities 2024 Residencies and Trainings Tectonic Theater Project conducted residencies and workshops in our devising technique, Moment Work. Under Moment Work Institute Chair Leigh Fondakowski's oversight, these took place in colleges, universities and high schools, and in rehearsal rooms for New York professionals. They varied in length from 90 minutes to a full semester, and were taught by our Company Member Teaching Artists. In 2024, Moment Work Institute was proud to hold workshops at Clemson University, University of Arkansas, University of Wyoming, Fordham University, and Drew University, among many others. Our Summer Institute during June and July was the most successful version yet, and we look forward to hosting another robust course offering in 2025.
