Programs described in its return (3)
  1. $8.3 million spent. Global Kids' school based programs provide a comprehensive curriculum that integrates international affairs education, civic engagement, and academic skill building. The programs employ multiple instructional strategies-including content-rich workshops, guest speakers, field trips, educational theater, and other creative arts-to build on young people's interests and talents. These approaches engage and motivate students to strengthen academic skills, deepen their understanding of complex global issues, and educate others. With training and support, students develop and implement social action projects focused on issues of concern to their communities and the broader world.
  2. $568,263 spent. Global Kids' leadership and peer education programs engage students in exploring global health, poverty, and children's rights through workshops, service projects, field trips, guest speakers, and mentoring. The program promotes a college going culture by building college awareness, supporting navigation of the college admissions and financial aid process, organizing visits to college campuses, and providing exposure to a range of career pathways. Global Kids youth also plan and lead an annual youth conference focused on major global issues and design and facilitate workshops for hundreds of students and educators.
  3. $521,326 spent. Global Kids-DC (GK-DC) partners with schools to provide a range of services and programs that support school priorities and advance the organization's mission to develop active global citizens prepared to engage and succeed in an ever-changing world. The organization works primarily with middle and high schools in underserved communities. Global Kids is the only organization in the District of Columbia to offer a globally focused youth development after-school program for high-needs students that integrates youth leadership development, community engagement, and global education.
