Governance

This organization files the short tax form, which does not ask about boards, policies or audits. That is normal for a small charity and is not a mark against it.

Programs described in its return (3)
  1. $60,388 spent. IN HOUSE PROGRAMS: Allied's In-house programs provide public education in experimental, alternative, and underserved art and cultural practice and public presentations in art and culture including "ABC No Rio 45 Years", a multi-venue exhibition and program at the Emily Harvey Foundation that celebrated the iconic Lower East Side cultural center's legacy of radical art, DIY activism, and collective cultural production. Allied co-presented this historical survey, which featured archival works, documents, panels, readings, and films that engaged both long-time participants and new audiences in the history of artist-led, grassroots arts ecosystems. In conjunction with this exhibition, Allied activated film programming at Anthology Film Archives, extending the conversation around oppositional creative traditions and community resilience. We provided artist fees, productions materials and services, lectures and public information on the historical impact of late 20th century art, culture and social movements. Beyond site-specific projects, Allied's presence extended into broader cultural platforms. At the Printed Matter NY Art Book Fair at MoMA PS1, Allied and Le Petit Versailles presented installations and programming that highlighted archival material and contemporary publishing practices, including book launches and artist talks featuring works such as "Selfies" by Lucia Minervini and publications from Lynne Sachs & Company. This participation connected Allied's creative ethos to international audiences and reinforced the importance of independent publishing within arts ecosystems. Number of persons benefited - 2000
  2. $27,292 spent. At the heart of Allied's local engagement was Le Petit Versailles Garden, a beloved Lower East Side community garden and cultural commons that served as a vibrant public forum throughout the season. In this outdoor locus of creativity, Allied presented a range of free arts activities that invited neighbors and visitors to experience performance, installation, workshops, and community gatherings in an informal, welcoming environment. Programs included Greenbox, a series of screenings, talks, and gatherings that activated the garden as a site of cultural exchange; DIRT by Undiscovered Countries, showcasing multidisciplinary work in dialogue with the garden's unique setting; Psychic Sauce, an interactive art-alchemy workshop; and Hide and Seek, a daylong public event blending art and play that drew local audiences into creative exploration. Allied also presented "My Dinner with Morgan at Remedy Diner - Chapter X" by Yoshiko Chuma and The School of Hard Knocks, a boundary defying performance series that unfolded in multiple chapters at Remedy Diner. This durational, improvisatory work honored the legacy of Morgan Jenness, a beloved dramaturg and collaborator, and blended performance, memory, and presence in site-responsive settings that resonated deeply with downtown New York's artistic community. Number of people benefited 10,000
  3. $26,943 spent. ARCHIVE: In 2025, Allied Productions deepened its commitment to preserving and professionally preparing its archival collections for their next life as accessible cultural resources. Building on decades of work collecting, conserving, and interpreting materials related to artist-led practice, community arts, and alternative cultural histories, Allied focused strategic effort on organizing, cataloging, and preparing its archives for long-term stewardship and broader public access. This included advancing the Allied Programs Archive-a growing repository of past programming, documentation, and ephemera that reflects Allied's multifaceted history of community engagement and artistic innovation. Allied's archive project encompasses not only internal records but also collections of historical significance, such as materials connected to ABC No Rio's formative years, for which Allied has served as principal consultant and steward.Throughout 2025, Allied prioritized professional preparation of archival holdings- enhancing physical organization, advancing descriptive systems, and exploring partnerships to support future digitization, cataloging, and institutional integration. These efforts position the archive for future collaborations with research institutions, cultural heritage organizations, and community stakeholders, ensuring that the rich histories embedded in Allied's collections can be responsibly preserved and meaningfully shared with artists, scholars, and the public.
