What it says it does

We operate a no-kill animal shelter, receiving dogs and cats from the community and from the county shelter. We provide shelter, food, water, medications, and veterinarian care until we adopt animals to loving families. We also transport them to no-kill animal shelters in metropolitan areas for a greater chance of adoption.

Governance

This organization files the short tax form, which does not ask about boards, policies or audits. That is normal for a small charity and is not a mark against it.

Impact evidence

Describes programs. Its tax return describes what it does but we have found no measurable results in it.

Programs described in its return (3)
  1. $45,892 spent. We provide the service of receiving surrendered and abandoned cats from the public in Barbour County. We have received over 550 cats, providing them shelter, food, medications, and veterinarian care prior to adopting over 478 cats to local residents and to no-kill animal shelters in metropolitan areas outside of our county, benefitting those who adopt.
  2. $23,509 spent. We provide the service of receiving surrendered and abandoned dogs from the public in Barbour County. We have received 233 dogs, providing them shelter, food, medications, and veterinarian care prior to adopting 229 dogs to local residents and to no-kill animal shelters in metropolitan areas outside of our county, benefitting those who adopt.
  3. $9,264 spent. Because our no-kill animal shelter is located in a rural county with only about 16,000 households, we transport dogs and cats from our shelter to no-kill animal shelters in metropolitan areas where more animals can be adopted than in our county. This year, our transports have benefitted 707 people who have adopted our animals.
