Financial health

We do not score finances when yearly spending is very small or the return has too little detail. The ratios stop meaning much at that size.

Governance

This organization files the short tax form, which does not ask about boards, policies or audits. That is normal for a small charity and is not a mark against it.

Impact evidence

Describes programs. Its tax return describes what it does but we have found no measurable results in it.

Programs described in its return (1)
  1. $44,435 spent. Continued the mission of the organization to preserve the tradition of wooden boat building and marine education in Oyster Bay. Our 11 year effort to build a replica of the historic oyster dredge Ida May came to fruition with her successful launching in 2023. We have completed the installation of the mechanical systems and safety gear, commissioned the engine and conducted successful sea trials. We completed stability testing with the Coast Guard and received certification for carrying 40 passengers. Formal documentation of the vessel and a radio license were obtained. In 2024 we completed the work necessary and received the Certificate of Inspection from the Coast Guard allowing Ida May to embark on her new mission as a "floating classroom" offering marine education for the public in Oyster Bay and on Long Island Sound. In addition, we began a project to repair Prohibition, a 1914 launch from Mobile Alabama, and we invited volunteers from the LI Maritime Museum in Saybrook to come laminate a new mast for their oyster sloop Priscilla, as they did not have a heated space for the work. These achievements are all puruant to our continuing mission to preserve the tradition of wooden boat building and marine education in Oyster Bay and Long Island NY.
